Why it’s interesting

Art Aura turns museum browsing into a hands-on association game. Instead of entering an exact search term, you drag artworks, styles, moods, or short phrases into an AI Discovery Zone. Gemini then looks for thematic relationships across departments at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The pleasure comes from seeing why two objects from different eras might belong together, and from the personal art portrait that takes shape as you keep exploring.

How to try it

Open the official experiment and begin with one artwork that catches your eye. Add a style word or a short phrase, inspect the suggested connections, then deliberately add a contrasting clue. Repeat the process for several rounds and open the resulting persona or summary graphic. The most surprising combination is usually the best one to capture and share.

Requirements and sources

The browser experience is free to explore, although it loads many images and scripts and may need a moment on a slow connection. Google Arts & Culture and The Met launched it on July 14, 2026. Their official pages describe the use of Gemini, multimodal embeddings, and vector search. The cover is linked from the official experiment and remains owned by the original institutions.
