Why it’s interesting
Thousand Lives is an open-source Chinese AI life simulator. You choose a world and an identity, answer a set of actions each round, and watch attributes, relationships, and previous events become new turns of fate. It is not a blank chatbot. Each preset world already defines rules, roles, and directions for growth, and the interface organizes the resulting life as a timeline. We opened the cultivation scenario and confirmed two modes, three identity choices, and a visible start flow.
How to try it
Select the cultivation world and choose the local trial marked as requiring no key. Pick one of the three identities and press the start button. This local route is the safest way to understand the mechanic because it needs neither an account nor a pasted secret. The AI-driven route can expand the story with a compatible model service, but it requires your own API configuration. Treat any API key as sensitive and enter it only in the project's stated local setting. We did not provide a key or start a paid model request.
Requirements and sources
The local trial is free and works in a modern browser without an account. Cost and availability for AI mode depend on the model provider you select. The project is maintained by rockbenben, and its official GitHub repository was created on June 17, 2026; the repository and live site link to each other, so that timestamp is used as the verifiable public date. The cover is the site's official 1200 by 630 Open Graph image. Generated narratives can vary, and we checked the mode, identity, and opening flow rather than every possible lifetime.
