Why it’s interesting

Visitors enter VR and try to pass as an AI among machine characters. By reversing the classic Turing test, the work turns the question of who seems human into a playable identity game.

Instead of detecting the machine, you perform one. Small choices in language and behavior become guesses about what people think artificial intelligence should look like.

How to try it

Visit the official Ars Electronica archive for VR footage, installation images, and the project statement. The physical experience has ended, while the online documentation remains.

Use the official page or demonstration as the current reference. Do not assume that a staged installation, limited experiment, account-gated demo, subscription feature, or physical product is available everywhere.

Requirements and sources

This entry credits Tore Knabe (DE), Jonathan Hart and keeps “Reverse Turing Test” as the original title. It is free to view or try and a short guided experience. Pricing, access, regional availability, accounts, hardware, and service support can change, so verify them on the [first-party source](https://ars.electronica.art/panic/en/view/reverse-turing-test-23038ddb450c80ae880fe09ae1ff0148) before trying or buying. The description stays within the documented AI role and does not treat promotional claims as independent testing.
